First Impressions
Atmosphere & Vibe
Sen Thai Bistro is quite unassuming from the outside, but when you walk in, you are immediately greeted with a relaxed, friendly vibe. There are about ten tables inside (including two booths) and two tables outside. You will likely find locals and regulars among the diners.
A large board with specials hangs on the wall, highlighting dishes that are available to order, but are not on the menu. A small bar area boasts the alcoholic drinks that are offered: beer, wine, sake or soju. The noise level is quiet to average, making it a nice place for gathering with friends or family. There are two TVs that are typically on, but muted, usually showing food on Youtube!
TIP: Don’t be fooled by the sign that shows ‘sushi’ on the outside of the restaurant, there is no sushi served at Sen!
Service & Hospitality
Sen is family owned and operated. Once you open the door, you’re immediately greeted by smiling faces, making you feel right at home. Friendly and knowledgable, the staff will happily recommend dishes to try, and never make you feel rushed. Reservations are available, but not required. However, we recommend making them if you are planning on visiting on a Friday or Saturday night.
What to Order at Sen Thai Bistro
Over the years of dining at Sen, we’ve had the opportunity to taste a lot of different dishes. They offer a large variety of specialties from all over Thailand. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you really can’t go wrong when placing your order. They have a range of spice level on their dishes, from no spice to very spicy. Be sure to mention to your server if you want to add or remove heat.
Some of the standout dishes we order are: Khao Soi, Crispy Duck with Hot Garlic, Lad Na with Beef and Crispy Noodles, P3, Pad See Ew, Nam Sod and Kua Moo. (All pictured below!) Kua Moo is one of those dishes that is not on the menu; it is actually a family favorite from a restaurant we loved in New York City, and of course, Sen was able to recreate it for us. Needless to say, it has now become a staple in our order and we recommend you try it too!
We visit so often, that sometimes we ask the owner to bring us out dishes we haven’t had before, that she thinks we’d enjoy. It’s always fun to steer away from our ‘regular rotation’ and try something new. Plus, it helps when you are hangry and everything looks so good that you can’t decide what to get! We always trust her recommendations.
TIP: When we order tofu as the protein, we like asking for it fried, and most of the time we sub American broccoli for Chinese broccoli (there is a $3 upcharge for this).

Drinks
Sen has alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. A favorite among diners is their Thai iced tea. They serve hot tea as well. When it comes to alcohol, there are a number of beers to chose from. Almost all of them are ‘light’ beers, a few Thai options, and usually one IPA. They also serve wine, soju and sake. We love sake bombs, and will do them on occasion, but usually lean towards a single Jai Lai or Singha. The beers are not on tap, they are served as a can or bottle with a chilled glass.
Value & Pricing
Each plate is a generous portion that will leave you feeling satisfied. The majority of the menu can be shared ‘family style’, with a few exceptions that may be more difficult to share (like Khao Soi or other soups). Smaller appetizers average $10, including small soups and salads. For specialty salads and apps, the prices average a bit higher (between $15 to $20), but are large enough for the table to share.
Most of the entrees are priced around $20, with a few specialty dishes a bit higher. To be honest, the quality and amount of food you get, this feels like a great value. Beer and wine come by the glass at $6, and the sake or soju is a bit more. Depending on what you order, and whether or not you drink, you’re looking at about $25/pp without alcohol, $35/pp with (for dinner). For groups of 6 or more, 18% gratuity is automatically applied to the bill.
Lunch Specials
Sen offers lunch specials Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This is a great value since the dishes come with a side salad and rice. The full menu is still available to order from if the dish you are craving is not available as a lunch option.
